I first heard those words from a beautiful petite mocha goddess named "Lady P." This powerful sistah cruised into my life when I was about sixth months pregnant with child number 4 and barely holding on from all the nonsense I allowed to creep into my peace. We connected on so many levels in our short time together, and it was through her guidance that I was able to recover and reconnect with my own goddess and begin to truly celebrate the goddess and her existence within me.
We often speak about the lack of good brothers. It was my belief that that all men will let you down eventually and that belief fulfilled my relationship prophecy. The truth is I let myself down. I didn't know enough about how to create what I wanted to go get it. Most importantly I didn't know that I did not need to want for anything. That there was nothing missing from my life. So I went with the flow. I thought it look good, it smelled good and it felt good, so it must be what I was looking for. Hmmm..
When we make statements professing "all men are dogs", "they just can't be trusted" or even "what do you expect he's a man", what do WE as woman think we are going to get? And what are we looking for?
This journey for me has been relearning how to love myself unconditionally. Learning to choose my actions based on the cultivation of my spirit. Learning that when I take actions based on who I am; infinite love, power, truth, wisdom and bliss the outcome will always be divine PEACE.
Welcome!
The Rubber Room is more than a place where women can gather to talk about the crazy things that occur in our relationships, it's a place to vent, recognize and heal our souls so we can find the joy in living.
My best sister-friend and I have both been through some crazy, grimy and sometime traumatic experiences in relationships. We supported each other without judgement as we cried, tantrumed and eventually we got through it. If we did not have a support system, I wonder if we might not have ended up in a "rubber room"
This blog is dedicated to our liberation. I hope through our stories we truly hear one another and as we listen we find the strength to rediscover our power to create the lives and the relationships we truly deserve.
